New Work

2024

A few years ago I began an in depth study of my family history, which included digitizing thousands of photographs, both from my family and my wife's family. I was particularly drawn to images and stories of fathers, in part because I was a new father. At the time, I was struggling as a parent, struggling with my relationship with my own father, and struggling to understand the benefit of being a parent.

Additionally, I have a long history with braille, stemming from a fear of going blind and a close call with acute angle glaucoma. As an artist, I started using braille again as a symbol for those things we can not see or don't yet understand. This new body of work is a personal exploration of those things we don't yet understand about parenthood and family in both the temporal and eternal sense.
